It’s best to get your wish list started now. Then, you can edit the with list down to the non-negotiables. The decisions can be overwhelming, so we’re sharing our top kitchen trends that are worth the investment.
Millwork & Molding
We’ve been asked so many times if molding dates a space or if it’s too traditional. The answer is if it’s done correctly, molding is a must have. Adding quality molding and millwork is always a great investment.
Skip the MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard) and use solid wood. If your contractor or painter discourage you from this, consider it a red flag.
Types of molding that add character, value, and visual interest are shiplap, tongue and groove, board and batten, and picture frame molding.
Appliances
Is it important to you to have your microwave tucked away in the butler’s pantry or visible in an island drawer? Are panel ready appliances essential to your aesthetic?
After cabinetry, appliances can be the largest investment for a kitchen. Most of our clients love to cook or want the top of the line appliances as if they did cook even though they don’t. Plan on spending more than you think on this one.
A great way to gain cooking area is with a range as opposed to a cook top. This will free up wall space as well which is, more times than not, premium space.
Water Filters
While everyone wants filtered water, everyone may not want filtered water on the outside of the fridge door. Water filters at the sink with the cartridge inside the cabinetry are a practical and aesthetically pleasing solution.
The faucet coordinates with the main faucet and elevates the kitchen allowing for a cleaner aesthetic without the dispenser on the fridge door. Or like our clients, why choose when you can have both?
